On a mid-spring day, tucked away on the Seattle Puget Sound Coastline, I met with Sophia and Thomas to document their engagement in a way that felt true to them: exploring nature. Meeting them, we instantly clicked, and I began showing them around my favorite spot in Seattle, Discovery Park. Washington weather is always hit or miss, especially in the early spring and summer months, but we were blessed with a beautiful, sunny day that cast golden rays of sunshine all around.
Our adventure began wandering grassy paths through the fields, soaking up the sun and finding hidden corners of the park to explore. My favorite thing about this location is that I try to take a new path every time I go, leading me to find new favorite spots. This time, we lucked out and found a huge field of purple lupine, which was the most beautiful surprise. Intuitively, they wandered over to it, plopped down, and took a moment to soak up this beautiful memory. As the sunlight slowly cascaded downwards, Sophia and I bonded over our mutual love for books – specifically Throne of Glass – and observed a hawk flying overhead, making the joke that it was “Rowen” (if you know, you know).
The most beautiful day faded into a stunning, hazy sunset that cast the whole park in shades of yellow and orange. Sophia and Thomas laughed, wandered, frolicked, and rolled around in the grass. As the sun dipped below the horizon, we began our walk back to our cars and marveled at how truly magical the day turned out and that it was better than our wildest dreams!
